ETHAN

“Ethan” came to our clinic about a year ago.  He was non-verbal and would push or grunt to communicate.  Behavior testing was done and a teaching strategy/program was designed to help Ethan acquire new skills, become more aware of his environment, interact with other children and begin using words. 

After several months of working diligently and patiently with Ethan, there came an “ah ha” moment when he made the connection that words were the key to helping him get what he wanted.  He became excited about this discovery and continues to expand his vocabulary. His mother cried when she heard him speak his first words and is amazed at the progress he’s made.  His story continues to be an inspiration to others. 

For over 36 years, Autism Services Center (ASC) has been providing quality services in both residential and community settings for individuals with Autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are very excited about our newly expanded Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinic where our certified and well-trained staff utilize scientifically proven techniques to impact not only the lives of clients, but that of their families as well.

Our main source of income is Medicaid and although the demand for our services is on the increase, that funding is shrinking due to WV budgetary cuts.   However, we are dedicated to continuing our work and hope to ensure that current services will survive and be available in the future.  To do that, we need your help. 

ASC is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit agency licensed to provide services in Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, Mason and Putnam counties in West Virginia.  We welcome your financial assistance in any amount you choose to offer.  Contributions to ASC may be made by check or credit card and are tax deductible.  We appreciate and thank you for your kind and continued support of our work.
